Privacy policy
We collect as little as the product needs, we do not sell it, and you can take it or delete it whenever you want. This page says the same thing in the detail the law requires.
Who we are
SignalReed Media, Lagos, Nigeria, is the data controller for signalreed.tech. For anything in this policy, contact team@signalreed.tech.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, and any display name, title, or company you choose to add. Magic-link sign-in means we never store a password.
- Reading data, for signed-in readers: articles opened, reading progress, follows, bookmarks, and reactions. This powers your feed and history; it is visible to you and to nobody else.
- Newsletter data: your email, which lists you subscribe to, and delivery and open events processed by our email provider.
- Payment data, when subscriptions launch: handled by Stripe or Paystack. Card numbers never touch our servers.
- Salary survey submissions are collected without your identity attached and published only in aggregate.
What we deliberately avoid
Our traffic analytics are cookie-free and do not identify you, which is why there is no cookie banner on this site. We do not run third-party advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Legal bases
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the GDPR, we process account and newsletter data to perform our contract with you; we process reading data with your consent, given by creating an account; and we process security logs in our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe.
Where your data lives
Data is hosted with our infrastructure providers in the European Union (database, Frankfurt) with standard contractual protections in place for transfers.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and everything attached to it by writing to team@signalreed.tech from your account email. We answer within 30 days. Self-serve export and deletion are being built into account settings; until then, email works and is honoured just the same. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter with one click in its footer, and you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local supervisory authority at any time.
Retention
Account data lives while the account does. Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days, and newsletter addresses that hard-bounce or stay inactive for a long period are removed automatically.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so plainly on this page and, for significant changes, by email.
